Dogs restricted under UK law

We will not cover dogs that are prohibited under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 (or any subsequent amendments), including:

• Dogs specifically named in the act

  • Pit Bull Terrier (including the American Pit Bull Terrier)

  • Japanese Tosa

  • Dogo Argentino

  • Fila Brasileiro

  • XL Bully

• Other dog breeds that are considered dangerous, whether pure-bred, cross-bred or appearing to have the characteristics of such a dog breed

Other restrictions on cover

We aim to be as inclusive as possible, however there are some breeds that we are not able to provide cover for:

Dogs

• Cane Corso

• Italian Mastiff

• Argentian Mastiff

• Brazilian Mastiff

• Tosa

• Japanese Mastiff

• Lupo Italiano

• Saarlos Wolfhound

• Czech Wolfhound

• American Bully

Cats

• Savannah (cat)

• Ashera

• Kanaani

• Safari

• Geoffroy's cat hybrid

Additionally, we are unable to cover pets that have been crossed with wild breeds, for example:

• Wolf hybrids

• Cats who are hybrid between a wild cat and a domestic cat (also known as F1 cats)

• Any dog or cat that requires a wild animal licence

Third Party Liability restrictions on cover

There are certain breeds that we are able to offer veterinary cover but not third party liability cover:
