Who Lassie is best for, according to PetCoverPro

  • Phone-comfortable owners who want claims, policy management and rewards in one app.

  • Puppies and kittens from four weeks old, and older pets without an upper entry-age cap.

  • Owners who want choice over excess and co-pay rather than a one-size policy.

  • Households wanting remote triage through unlimited 24/7 video-vet access.

Vet fee cover up to £20,000

Vet fees covered up to £20,000 a year. £4,000 with Bronze, £8,000 with Silver, £12,000 or £20,000 with Gold.

It's lifetime cover, which means your vet fee cover limit renews in full, each year, for as long as you remain insured with us. So if you purchase insurance with us and your dog subsequently develops arthritis, we can continue covering arthritis treatment year after year, throughout its lifetime.

Included in every package:

  • MRI and CT scans

  • Chemotherapy and radiation therapy

  • Prescription medication and prescription food

  • Cruciate ligament surgery, with no sub-limits

  • Complementary and behavioural treatment — up to £3,000 each on our Gold package

  • Up to £2 million of third-party liability if your dog injures someone or damages their property

Your vet can bill us directly

With direct billing, your vet sends the invoice to us and we pay them. Your vet may ask you to pay your excess and co-pay (if you have one) upfront and then you get to take your pet home. We cover the rest - direct with your vet. Check that your practice is happy to settle with us directly.

If they would rather not, you make the claim in a few taps in the app and follow it from there. Your documents, your cover and your rewards are all in the same place. So is our team, by chat, email or phone.

And before any of that, there are unlimited video calls with a fully qualified vet, 24 hours a day.

Care starts before something happens

Traditional insurance waits for problems. We help you prevent them.

Our app has short courses and quizzes made with vets and animal experts. Bite-sized lessons on the things that actually go wrong, and practical steps that fit around everyday life. Learn as you go, earn points, and spend those points to get a discount on the price of your insurance. Up to £50 a year for a dog and £25 a year for a cat.

We reward showing up, not perfection.

Dogs and cats welcome at any age

We have no upper age limit. An older dog who has never been insured before is welcome here, and so is a fourteen-year-old cat.

It works at the other end too. We insure puppies and kittens from four weeks old.

One thing worth knowing if you're insuring an older pet: from your pet's ninth birthday there's a minimum £99 excess and a 25% co-payment. It doesn't apply if you've been insured with us for the three continuous years before that renewal. So insuring before your pet turns six means those minimums never come into play.

Age is also where prevention earns its keep. The courses and health tracking in the app are built around noticing changes early, which matters more at eleven than it does at two.

About pre-existing conditions

A pre-existing condition is anything your pet has suffered from in the 24 months before your insurance starts, whether or not it was diagnosed and whether or not there were symptoms. That condition and anything related to it won't be covered.

Two things are worth understanding.

Bilateral conditions affect both sides of the body, like cruciate ligaments or eyes. If your pet had a problem on one side in those 24 months and the same thing happens on the other side later, we treat it as one condition. Related conditions work the same way - diabetes and diabetic cataracts count as one.

The good news is that something your pet fully recovered from more than 24 months prior to policy purchase may be covered if it comes back.

Every claim is looked at individually.

About the ratings

PetCoverPro scored Lassie 4.8 out of 5 and ranked us first for 2026, in a review by their editorial team, vet-reviewed by Dr Avron Taitz, BVSc, against five published criteria. They earn a commission if you buy after clicking through from their site. Your price is the same either way.

The same review raised four fair points. We are new to the UK, so our claims record here is short. Dental illness cover starts with Silver, not Bronze. From your pet's ninth birthday there is a minimum £99 excess and 25% co-payment, which doesn't apply if you have been insured with us for the three continuous years before that renewal. And pre-existing conditions aren't covered, as above.

Defaqto rates individual products rather than companies. All three of our cat packages hold a Defaqto 5 Star Rating for 2026. For dogs, Silver and Gold hold 5 stars and Bronze holds 4.
